Set amongst 3.5 acres of woodland, Rocky Lane consists of nine single units, ranging in size from nearly 1000 to 2000 square feet.
In determining appropriate potential building sites, great care has been taken to ensure the survival of as many of the existing mature trees as possible. The final effect of the development will be greatly enhanced by the preservation of this natural resource.
To this end, the project takes sensitive advantage of existing level areas currently occupied by holiday chalets. In every case, the new homes work in conjunction with the site, where great care has been taken to design them in harmony with the site’s trees and topographic features.

Furthermore, the design is very sensitive to the exceptional topography of the site, making every effort to work with the slope of the land: building and roof masses step back and follow the contours of the site. Each building is positioned with utmost care to ensure that it remains private when viewed from public footpaths or from neighbouring units.

The design of the development is intended to respect and enhance the essential nature of the site: a woodland area of finite and limited size, especially rare in this part of Cornwall.
Each unit has at least one sheltered and private outdoor living space. These spaces include elevated decks and roof terraces. Each outdoor private space serves to make the user intimately aware of his or her surroundings, thereby instilling a sense of place and a respect for the natural environment. To this

end, such outdoor spaces are integrated into the neighboring trees and offer the user a one-to-one relationship with nature. These spaces are adjacent to (and visible from) common indoor areas such as kitchens or dining spaces such that they may be used even during inclement weather.
